MISSOULA, Mont. - South Dakota State picked up where it left off Thursday at Minnesota, when the Jackrabbits took on Montana on Sunday in Missoula. Unfortunately that did not bode well for State, who lost game three of a five game road trip 87-47.
Mackenzie Casey hit a three pointer on the Jacks first possession and
Andy Kleinjan made a fade-away jumper the next time down the floor to put the Jacks up 5-0 early. Montana countered with a 12-0 run and put the game away later in the first with a 23-0 run that spanned just over seven minutes.
Jordan Hasquet led a balanced Grizzly attack with 17 points, Matt Dlouhy added 16, Kyle Sharp 14, while Matt Martin rounded out the double-digit scorers for the Grizzlies with 11 points.
Kai Williams led the Jacks with 12 points and seven rebounds, while Thomas Bassett added 10 points and six boards.
The Jacks committed two less turnovers (18) than the Grizz, but Montana went 28-for-52 from the floor (53.8 percent) compared to SDSU who went 19-for-54 from the floor (33.3 percent).
The loss drops the Jacks to 2-9 on the season, while Montana evens its record at 5-5.
South Dakota State gets a six day break before continuing its road trip on Saturday at Wisconsin-Green Bay. Tip off at the Resch Center is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
