South Dakota State returns to Summit League action on Saturday against Oral Roberts with an even 4-4 record overall, 1-0 in league play after a 71-58 win over Centenary on Thursday.
Garrett Callahan led the Jacks with 20 points in the win, the last nine of them coming from the free throw line. Anthony Cordova scored a career-high 15 points and added ten rebounds for his second career double-double. Dale Moss also recorded a double-double, the first of his career, with 12 points to go along with his game and career-high 12 rebounds.
SDSU NOTES ? Junior Garrett Callahan leads the Jackrabbit offensive attack with 18.6 points per game, which includes five 20-plus point performances in the last six games. Sophomore Clint Sargent comes into tonight's game averaging 13.4 points and 4.6 rebounds per game. Junior Kai Williams, who led the Jacks in scoring in each of his first two years on the team, boosted his season average to 12.4 points per game after averaging 18 points per game in the Jacks two games in Cancun and enters tonight's game with an 11.6 per game average. Williams also ranks second on the team with 6.9 rebounds per game.
Sophomore Anthony Cordova leads the Jacks with 8.8 rebounds per game and adds 8.3 points per game, while senior Mackenzie Casey leads the Jacks with 17 assists.
As a team, the Jacks shoot 40 percent from the floor overall, 35 percent from three-point range. Jackrabbit opponents shoot 44 percent from the field and 31 percent from long distance. The Jacks hold a 38.1-34.8 rebounding edge and have committed one fewer turnover than their opponents, but enter Saturday's game with 15 fewer steals.

WILLIAMS CLOSES IN ON 1,000 POINTS ? Junior Kai Williams entered the 2008-09 season with 769 career points, just 231 shy of becoming the 39th member of the SDSU 1,000-Point Club and the first to score all of them at the Division I level.
Williams enters the ORU game with 93 points on the season, 862 in his career, leaving him 138 points short of the milestone.
The Regina, Saskatchewan native led the team in scoring and rebounding in each of his first two years on the team.
TRANSITION OVER ? The NCAA Division I Management Council Administrative Committee, acting on behalf of the DI Management Council, announced in late June that South Dakota State University met the requirements to become an active member of NCAA Division I, starting at the beginning of the 2008-09 academic year.
Previously a member of Division II, SDSU Successfully completed the five-year process of moving its athletic programs to comply with Division I membership requirements. Those requirements include compliance with Division I rules for the final four years, meeting minimum financial aid and contest scheduling limits, engaging in a rules compliance review and successfully complete the athletics certification process.
SDSU officials submitted an extensive self-study to the NCAA in the spring of 2007 and a peer-review team completed the study during a campus visit in October 2007.
THE LAST TIME OUT
SDSU 71, Centanary 58 (12/4/08) ? South Dakota State got a balanced offensive attack and dominated the boards in defeating Centenary 71-58 on Thursday night in front of 1,978 fans at Frost Arena for its first Summit League win of the season.
The Jackrabbits improve to an even 4-4 overall with the win, 1-0 in The Summit League, while the Gents fall to 2-7 overall and 0-1 in league play.

SDSU struggled from the three-point line, going just 1-of-8 (12.5 percent), but shot 41.7 percent overall from the floor on 20-of-48 shooting. The Gents did not fair much better, going 5-of-20 from long range (25 percent) and 38.2 percent overall from the floor on 21-of-55 shooting.
Centenary scored first, but the Jacks took the lead on a trio of Mackenzie Casey free throws and even though they never trailed again, they did not put the game away until late in the second half after fending off a pair of attempted Centenary comebacks.
THIS WEEK'S COMPETITION
Oral Roberts Golden Eagles (1-4, 0-0 Summit) ? The Golden Eagles, who dropped an 83-75 game on Thursday at North Dakota State in their league opener, enter the game with a 1-5 overall record, 0-1 in The Summit League, with their lone win coming in their only home game against NAIA foe John Brown 82-58.
Defending Summit League Player of the Week Robert Jarvis leads the ORU offense with 19.7 points per game, Dominique Morrison adds 14.8 points and Marcus Lewis 9.3. Both Kyron Stokes and Andre Hardy average 7.7 points per game, with Hardy adding 6.3 rebounds to lead ORU.
The Golden Eagles shoot .428 from the floor overall, .327 from three-point range, and get out rebounded by nearly five a game (31.7-36.8). ORU does though, commit fewer turnovers and (79-91) and holds a 44-40 edge in steals.
The Series vs. Oral Roberts ? The Golden Eagles lead the all-time series 2-1, with both wins coming in 2007-08. The lone SDSU win in the series came on Jan. 24, 1968, when the Jacks won 92-83 in Brookings.
