Vermillion, S.D. -- Freshman Brad Schoreit broke the school record in 3-meter diving for the second time this season as the South Dakota State University men's swimming and diving team lost to the University of South Dakota 186-108 on Thursday night.
Schoreit's score of 249.45 was good enough for second place and it broke the SDSU school record that he set earlier in the season in a dual against North Dakota. No diver had been able to break the record for 29 years, while the Omaha native has already broken it twice this season.
Junior Andrew Martin was his first ever individual event as his time of 2 minutes, 18.59 seconds was good enough to win the 200 Butterfly by over fourth seconds over teammate and second place finisher Kyle Catani. Catani also placed second in the 800 freestyle (8:58.45) and in the 400 freestyle (4:22.34)
Shea Patrick, a freshman from Mitchell, S.D., would also win his first career event by finishing the 200 breaststroke in 2:29.28.
Kyle Ochsner won his first career butterfly event with a time of 1:00.80 in the 100 butterfly as well as placing second in the 200 freestyle in 1:58.63. It is the freshman's fourth win this season.
The Jacks return to the pool when they go on their annual winter training trip in St. Petersburg, Fla. from Jan. 2-9.
