Nagy opening statement vs. IPFW
"It's pretty clear with our basketball team that we're not talented enough to be flat. We don't have enough talent on our team to play flat and win basketball games, not against the competition that we are playing. We have to play with a lot of emotion and a lot of energy. And obviously we didn't in the first half. What we did in the second half is defend and that's why we won the game. Obviously we were aggressive offensively, but we were good defensively too. There wasn't any yelling and screaming at half time. There's just no need to do that with these older kids."
The ability for the team to come from behind
"I'd like to not see that ability (to come from behind) and that we actually show up and play from the start. It's nice that we have done that, but lets show up and play a full 40 minutes and give ourselves a way better chance and not have to do that. We never talked about Oakland this entire week, but I think that they sensed that everybody else was talking about Oakland."
Nate Wolters play in the second half
I said after the game, it would be nice if you played the first half like you do the second. Nate has just shown the ability all year when games have gotten tight, that's when he flat out wants to play the most. He hit that three to put us ahead, because it was like we can't get over the hump."
Rebounding
"It's ridiculous. It's three games on a row we have been beat on the glass. We give up 19 offensive rebounds and you just can't do that and win games consistently. We are going to face a very, very big team Saturday night and we're just going to have to do a better job."
The recent play of Mark Engen
He's earned his minutes. He just hasn't played enough and it's unbelievable to say that. Offensively in the first half, he was just in a rush and he needed to get himself slowed down. He had a big tip-in there in the second half. He is good defensively because he is long and hard to score over. He's the one guy that we have that's a threat at the basket. For me it's gratifying to see him get some minutes, because he has been here and had a great attitude. I never say that guys deserve anything, because I don't know if we do, but he's put his time in and it's gratifying for me to be able to put him on the floor and have confidence in him.
The importance of the win
You think about losing this game and the pressure that it puts on Saturday's game. I think winning it allows us to relax. Now everybody understands that this is going to be a big deal around here and that's a good thing. My guess is people will battle the weather and do whatever they have to do to get to the gym, because not only will it be a good men's game, but it's going to be a good women's game. We know that they have a good team and certainly our women's team is playing better, so it should be a very entertaining night.
Only nine turnovers and two in the second half
We just have a better ball handling team this year then we did last year; better passers and that makes a difference.
IPFW holding a 6-3 all-time advangage over SDSU
I said this before. When we've beaten them, we have struggled to beat them. There have been some times when they have beaten us and they have beaten us badly. They are well coached. Dane does a great job and he had his kids ready. I guarantee you he fed them and fed them and fed them the fact that all anybody around here is doing is talking about Oakland. There kids were ready.
Pleased with being 6-2 in the Summit League near the halfway point
With the road games we have played, I think we have to feel pretty good about being 6-2.
