"I think that our guys were ready to play and understand how important it is to win home conference games if you are going to stay in the race. Oral Roberts has such a great tradition and have been so good here of late that maybe that had something to do with it. (Coming out ready to play) I think that our guys have a lot of respect for them and we knew coming off of what happened last year (Jacks first round Summit League win) that they (ORU) would certainly be ready. And my guess is that Scott (Sutton) probably feels like his team was ready because we out rebounded them by 18. He's probably very frustrated by that. But that tends to be the way that it goes on the road sometimes. You just don't play with as much energy and fortunately our fans were really good tonight and we gave them a reason to be good."
Clint Sargent
"We should have gotten him more shots, but he was good. He took the place of Garrett in the starting lineup tonight and he replaced those points. You could tell that his jump shots were clean and quick. He just played with a lot of confidence. Clint has a ton of experience in this league. He's a junior and he should play like that. We need him to be a man for us."
Benching Garrett
"If you look through our lineup in terms of getting our guys to play at the level that we want them to play at, we have pretty much taken every guy that has started at some point this season and sat them down for a reason or another. Garrett is a great teammate and has meant a ton to this program. We are certainly not trying to single him out because we pretty much singled everybody out. We are just trying to get everybody to play at the level that they can play."
Nate Wolters
"If you saw the Nevada game, he was the best player at the Nevada game. He gets to the free throw line a ton and that's where he was tonight. He was driving and at the basket. He didn't play like a freshman tonight, that's for sure. And we need that from him in the second half."
Signature/Symbolic win?
"Like I said last time I was here, we are better than we were last year. Expectations are high and we played a tough none conference schedule, but it's clear that we are better than we were last year. I think that tonight is an indication of that. That we are making steps in the right direction. And again that doesn't mean that every single step that we take is going to be in the right direction, but it might be two steps forward and one back."
"Just because this is the 31st of December it doesn't have anything to do with how the season is going to go. When we look at years, it's this year and not split up in decades. I don't think this has any symbolic meaning at all other than we beat a good basketball team."
Coming through in a close game.
"That's the one thing that I talked about after the game, particularly with our older kids we have seen so many games like that slip away and they did a great job of staying positive. I did a good job of staying positive with them on the bench and we fought through it when things didn't look very good. With less than four minutes to go, I think we were down five and our kids just stuck with it. We did a little full court pressure tonight and it caused a couple of turnovers, some big turnovers for us. Even as a coaching staff, we were a little willing to step out of what we are used to and gamble a little bit and our kids did a nice job with it."
