Jacks Host Coyotes on Showdown Saturday

South Dakota State (12-7, 3-2 Summit) plays its second game a season-long three game homestand Saturday against the South Dakota Coyotes in the South Dakota Corn Showdown Series and Lamb Bonanza. The game also marks the seventh straight season that SDSU head coach Scott Nagy coaches a game in his bare feet to raise money and awareness for Samaritan's feet.
The Jackrabbits enter the game riding a three game winning streak after a convincing win over IUPUI on Wednesday night at Frost Arena, when they opened on a 15-0 run on the way to a 68-53 win in head coach Nagy's 600th career game as a head coach.
An 0 for 12 start from the field, along with two missed free throws, helped fuel the Jacks opening run, as the Jaguars didn't crack the scorebook until almost 10 minutes into the game.
The Jacks led 30-20 at halftime, and even though the Jaguars closed the gap to as few as three points with just over 13 minutes left in the game, the Jacks responded, and went up by double digits for good at 55-45 with 7:29 remaining and never looked back.
TONIGHT'S OPPONENT
SOUTH DAKOTA COYOTES (9-9, 3-1 Summit): The Coyotes come to Brookings riding a three game winning streak and with a share of first place in the league standings after downing defending champion North Dakota State on Wednesday by the score of 71-67 in the DakotaDome.
Picked to finish eighth in The Summit League Preseason Poll, USD also boasts road wins at Denver and at preseason favorite Fort Wayne, beating the Pioneers 74-69 and the Mastodons 64-62.
THE SERIES vs. SOUTH DAKOTA
The Jackrabbits lead the all-time series 119-89-1 with wins in each of the last three meetings after sweeping the season series last year. The tie in the series came in a disputed contest on March 12, 1915 in Brookings.
