The Jackrabbits (16-7, 7-2 Summit) can make it a season-high eight wins in a row on Saturday after dispatching Omaha on Wednesday in Brookings by the score of 86-64 behind career nights from both Deondre Parks and Jake Bittle. The Jackrabbit juniors combined to go 15 of 14 from the floor overall, 8 for 8 from 3-point range and 11 for 11 from the foul line. Parks, who made his first seven shots of the night, finished with a career- and game-high 26 points, while Bittle crossed the 20-point mark for the first time in his career, finishing with 21.
The Pioneers (9-12, 3-5 Summit) closed its first half of league play on Thursday with a 61-54 overtime loss at North Dakota State. Denver led by 11 points with 13 minutes, 29 seconds left in the game, but the host Bison rallied to tie the game and force overtime, where they outscored the Pioneers 14-7.
TONIGHT'S OPPONENT
DENVER PIONEERS (9-12, 3-5 Summit): The Pioneers opened league play with a win over SDSU, but lost their next three games, including a home loss to South Dakota and road losses at Fort Wayne and IUPUI.
Denver bounced back with home wins over Western Illinois and Oral Roberts, but come to Brookings riding a two game losing streak, with losses at Omaha and at North Dakota State.
THE SERIES vs. DENVER
SDSU leads the all-time series 6-5 after sweeping the season series last year, which includes an improbable 74-73 come-from-behind win in Denver on Jan. 30, 2014 and a 78-69 win on Feb. 27, 2014 at Frost Arena. The Pioneers won the first meeting of the season, 76-69, in Denver.
