BROOKINGS, S.D. – As the Jackrabbits gear up for its NCAA Tournament appearance on Friday, the South Dakota State women's soccer program officially welcomed six student-athletes on Wednesday as part of their 2026 signing class.
Expected to join the Jackrabbits next fall as freshmen after signing their financial aid agreements are Stella Braddock (Clive Iowa), Bianca Eide (Lake Elmo, Minn.), Abbi Gibbs (Omaha, Neb.), Peyton Held (Lincoln, Neb.), Dreya Kern (Marion, Iowa) and Emily Krings (Lincoln, Neb.).
"We're really excited about this class," said South Dakota State head coach
Brock Thompson. "The six of them represent really every position on the field except goalkeeper. They're great players and all bring different skill sets to our program, which is important to us. Most importantly, their character and values align with Jackrabbit soccer. We're thrilled for them to officially become Jackrabbits today."
Stella Braddock | 5-10 | Defender | Clive, Iowa | Waukee HS | VSA Rush
Stella Braddock is a senior at Waukee High School and a two-sport standout for the Warriors. Braddock has been a three-year starter for Waukee in soccer with her senior season coming up in the spring. As a junior, Braddock helped lead the Warriors to the state semifinals as a team captain. She was chosen as an All-State Tournament Team selection along with garnering 1st team all-state, all-district and all-conference accolades. She scored two goals this past spring while also helping the Warriors' back line allow less than a goal per game.
Braddock has been a member of two regional championship teams for Waukee. The Warriors advanced to the state quarterfinals during her sophomore year in which she was a 2nd team all-conference performer and was her team's MVP. As a freshman, Braddock was an honorable mention to the all-conference team.
A defender for the soccer team, Braddock also has been a contributor to the Warriors' volleyball team. She's earned all-conference honors and was an Iowa Girls' Coaches Association Senior All-Star Volleyball Classic selection for the 2025 season. Braddock has earned academic all-conference laurels each year of her prep career. She plans to major in human biology at South Dakota State.
Bianca Eide | 5-3 | Defender | Lake Elmo, Minn. | Stillwater HS | Minnesota Thunder Academy
Bianca Eide is currently a senior at Stillwater High School in Minnesota. Eide has been a standout for the Ponies soccer team. This season, the defender helped lead Stillwater to a Minnesota Class 3A State Championship. Her time on the soccer pitch for the Ponies has seen her claim all-conference and all-state accolades.
Eide was a member of the Minnesota Thunder Academy ECNL squad this summer that traveled to Sweden and won the Gothia Cup, the world's largest international youth football tournament. Her prep career has also seen Eide compete in wrestling. She plans to major in business at SDSU.
Abbi Gibbs | 5-9 | Defender | Omaha, Neb. | Brownell Talbot School | Gretna Elite Academy
Abbi Gibbs is a senior at Brownell Talbot College Preparatory School in Omaha. Gibbs is a high performer in multiple sports for the Raiders.
Gibbs has been a three-year varsity starter heading into her senior campaign next spring. She's recorded a combined 54 goals, registered 15 assists and scored 123 points across three seasons. Gibbs has also been active with Gretna Elite Academy, participating in the ECNL Champions League in 2025 while previously earning a Nebraska State Cup Championship and being honored as a State Cub Best XI selection.
Gibbs was a four-year starter in volleyball, recently completing her senior season in the sport. She was an all-state and all-conference honorable mention twice. She's in the midst of her senior campaign of basketball where she's been a three-year starter as well. Gibbs has been an all-conference performer for three seasons as well an honorable mention all-state.
The Omaha native is a member of National Honor Society and been on Honor Roll her entire prep career. Gibbs plans to major in human biology at South Dakota State.
Peyton Held | 5-6 | Forward | Lincoln, Neb. | Lincoln Southwest HS | Lincoln City FC
Peyton Held has been a three-year member of the varsity soccer program at Lincoln Southwest High School. Held will compete in her senior season of soccer this upcoming spring for the Silver Hawks.
Held has been a contributor to Lincoln Southwest's back-to-back Nebraska State championship teams. As a junior, Held was an all-state selection as well as a Second Team Super State performer. This past spring, Held scored 18 goals and had 15 assists en route to 51 points scored in 19 matches. As a sophomore, Held played in 19 games and scored six goals while dishing out nine assists for 21 points.
The incoming forward plans to major in psychology at SDSU.
Dreya Kern | 5-7 | Midfielder | Marion, Iowa | Linn-Mar HS | FC United Iowa
Dreya Kern has been a three-year starter for Linn-Mar High School as she prepared for her junior season next spring. Kern has also been active in basketball for the Lions.
Kern helped Linn-Mar advanced to the Iowa Class 3A State Championship match in the spring of 2025. Her junior season saw her earn first-team all-conference and all-metro honors, along with all-district and second team all-state accolades. She scored 21 goals, to go along with six assists, en route to scoring 48 points.Kern was also an all-conference and all-metro performer as both a sophomore and freshman. Those two seasons saw her record a combined 25 goals, 10 assists and 60 points.
In basketball, Kern has been a three-year starter as well. She was an honorable mention as a freshman while she's been an all-conference and all-metro team selection during her sophomore and junior campaigns. Her junior year saw her average 14.8 points and 5.9 rebounds per game.
Kern has earned all-academic honors every year of her prep career. She's also been a member of National Honor Society. Kern plans to major in nursing at South Dakota State. She'll join her older brother on campus, Davis, who is currently a freshman on the men's basketball team.
Emily Krings | 5-3 | Midfielder | Lincoln, Neb. | Pius X HS | Gretna Elite Academy
Emily Krings heads into her senior season of soccer this next spring at Lincoln Pius X Catholic High School. Despite not playing her junior season of high school soccer due to injury, Krings has had a decorated prep career of soccer.
As a member of the Pius X girls soccer team, the Thunderbolts earned a 2025 district championship and were the Class B State runners up. In 2024, Piux X also won a conference and district championship, eventually finishing runner-up at the Class A level. That season saw Krings earn Class 1st Team All-State accolades along with 2nd Team Super State honors. She was an all-conference and academic all-conference performer as well.
Her club tenure has seen her teams claim three state cup championships. She was also chosen three times to the Nebraska Best XI squad.
Krings has been on her school's Honor Roll during her entire prep tenure while she is also a member of National Honor Society. She plans to study dermatology while at South Dakota State.
The South Dakota State women's soccer team is en route to Iowa City for its NCAA Tournament appearance. The Jackrabbits take on the Hawkeyes at 5 p.m. Friday at the Iowa Soccer Complex.
