DURHAM, N.C. - The South Dakota State women's basketball team dropped a 97-54 decision to Duke Thursday night at Cameron Indoor Stadium.
The Jackrabbits move to 10-3 on the season while Duke is now 5-6.
Brooklyn Meyer scored 27 points to lead all players. The senior was the only Jackrabbit to reach double figures. She was 11-of-15 from the floor and also contributed four rebounds and one steal.
Meyer opened the game 3-for-3 from the floor, plus a 3-point bucket from
Maggie Hartwig made it 9-5 early for the Jacks. Duke quickly hit a pair of 3-pointers on their end to take the lead and did not give it up. Meyer and Felchle made layups that tied the game at 11 and 13, respectively, then Duke ended the opening quarter with a 13-2 run to lead 26-15. Duke scored the first nine points of the second quarter to go up 20 and led by as many as 32 before halftime.
The Blue Devils outscored the Jacks in all four quarters and had a 48-28 advantage in rebounding. Duke shot 49% for the game and connected on 10 3-pointers. SDSU was 41% from the floor and committed 16 turnovers, which resulted in 21 points for Duke.
Mahli Abdouch was SDSU's second leading scorer with seven points. She also had a team-high three assists.
Duke had six players reach double figures, led by Taina Mair with 22 points and Toby Fournier with 20. Riley Nelson put up 15 points, eight rebounds and seven assists.
