FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - South Dakota state seniors
Madison Mathiowetz and
Brooklyn Meyer scored 28 points each Saturday afternoon in an 88-72 win over Northern Arizona at Rolle Activity Center. The Jackrabbits improve to 8-2 on the season.
Meyer and Mathiowetz combined to shoot 23-for-34 from the floor, leading the Jackrabbits to a 54% shooting mark for the game. Mathiowetz knocked down four 3-point buckets on her way to her career-high scoring night and contributed four assists, three rebounds and two steals. Meyer grabbed six boards, dished two assists and had one block.
The game was tied at halftime, but the Jackrabbits steadily pulled away during the third period. Mathiowetz knocked down consecutive 3-pointers during an early 8-0 stretch and SDSU ended the quarter with six straight points. Mathiowetz and Meyer had eight apiece during the fourth to help the Jacks stretch their lead to 16.
Maggie Hartwig added ten points and matched Meyer's six rebounds.
Hilary Behrens set a new career high with eight rebounds while
Mahli Abdouch posted a career-high seven assists in her first career start.
South Dakota State out-rebounded Northern Arizona, 41-26. The Jacks turned eight offensive rebounds into six second chance points.
Freshman Naomi White scored 25 for the Lumberjacks with six 3-pointers. NAU falls to 1-9 on the season.
NOTES
- South Dakota State improves to 6-0 all-time in the Big Sky-Summit League Challenge, now in its third season.
- The last time two players scored at least 25 points for SDSU was against St. Thomas in the final game of the 2024-25 regular season. Paige Meyer scored 27 points and Brooklyn Meyer scored 25.
