IOWA CITY, Iowa — Freshman Emma Ingalls set a new South Dakota State record in the 200-yard individual medley to lead the Jackrabbit women's squad Thursday on the first full day of the 2025 Summit League Swimming and Diving Championships.
A native of Spokane, Washington, Ingalls clocked a time of 2 minutes, 3.82 seconds to win the B final of the event and place ninth overall. Her time bettered Morgan McLain's mark of 2:04.02 established  in 2012.
Ingalls led a contingent of four SDSU swimmers in the 200 IM B final, with Kaylin de Almeida placing 14th in 2:07.73, Marissa Branham finishing 15th in 2:08.76 and Hailey Creary taking 16th in 2:09.15.
Sophomore Gigi Hioki also posted a top time in a B final Thursday night, placing ninth overall in the 500 freestyle. Her time of 4:57.02 placed her second on the SDSU career charts in the event.
Also swimming in a B final Thursday was Jenna Currier, who placed 11th in the 50 freestyle with a time of 23.77 seconds.Â
The Jackrabbits currently rank sixth in the team standings out of seven squads. Denver leads with way with 418 points while South Dakota (266) and Omaha (240) are in a battle for second place.
Competition resumes Friday with preliminary and qualifying heats starting at 10 a.m., followed by event finals at 6 p.m. at the University of Iowa's Campus Recreation and Wellness Center.
