SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — South Dakota State's Cody Larson takes Kwik Star Men's Track Peak Performer of the Week as announced by the Summit League Tuesday afternoon.
Larson earns this honor following a record-breaking performance at the Bryan Clay Invitational Thursday evening. The junior clocked the 10th-fastest 3000-meter steeplechase time in the nation at 8:30.96 to finish seventh in the event. Larson's performance also blew away SDSU's 30-year-old steeplechase record by 13 seconds. The record stood at 8:43.02 and was set by Craig Cassen in 1991. This is now the second record Larson has broken this season, as he previously claimed the 5000-meter record at 13:34.46 in his season debut at the Stanford Invitational.
UP NEXT: The Jackrabbits open with a mid-week meet at the University of Minnesota, before heading to Iowa for the Drake Relays and Kip Javrin Invite beginning Thursday afternoon. Part of the team will travel north to Fargo for the NDSU Open on Friday.
