MULTIS FINISH 3RD AND 4TH, TRACK AND FIELD POSTPONED TO SATURDAY

VERMILLION, S.D. — Following the conclusion of the multi events, competition at the Summit League Outdoor Championships has been postponed to tomorrow due to inclement weather, as announced by the conference Friday afternoon.
Katelyn Darnell and Ryan Benson completed heptathlon and decathlon competition Friday afternoon. Darnell placed fifth in both the long jump and javelin events, leaping 17-00 (5.18m), before throwing 89-03 (27.21m). Darnell finished the day off with a 2:30.00 800-meter time to finish third in the event and third overall with 4795 points. Darnell will be presented with her bronze medal tomorrow afternoon.
Benson posted a fourth-place finish in the discus with a mark of 97-03 (29.64m) before winning the javelin with a throw of 154-09 (47.18m). The junior rounded out the day in the 1500-meter. Benson gave the race his all, finishing runner-up at 4:57.75 to take fourth in the decathlon with 6312 points.
The remaining track and field events have been moved to Saturday due to unfavorable weather conditions. Saturday's session will begin at 11:00 a.m. with the 3000-meter steeplechase and the discus.
