BROOKINGS, S.D. - South Dakota State women's basketball has announced the promotion of
Sadie Thramer to associate head coach.
"Sadie has been an integral member of our program from the moment she joined our staff," said head coach
Aaron Johnston. "Not only is she an outstanding coach and recruiter, but she is also an exceptional role model for the young women in our program. Sadie's elevation to associate head coach is a reflection of her dedication to the Jackrabbits and our sustained success."
Thramer recently completed her fourth season on the Jackrabbit staff. SDSU is 115-25 (.821) overall in that time, the winningest four-year stretch in program history, with a combined seven Summit League titles. The Jackrabbits have gone unbeaten against Summit League competition in three straight seasons, made three consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances and won a pair of opening round games (2023, 2025).
"I am so excited to take on an elevated role with a program I love so much," said Thramer. "South Dakota State is a special place that means so much to my family. The opportunity to continue learning and growing under AJ and with this staff is a blessing. I'm very appreciative of Coach Johnston, Athletic Director
Justin Sell and President Barry Dunn for their leadership and investment in women's basketball here at South Dakota State."
Thramer works primarily with SDSU's post players, including 2025 Honorable Mention All-American and two-time Summit League First Team selection
Brooklyn Meyer. In 2024-25, Meyer paced the Jackrabbits with 17.0 points per game, scored at least 30 points on three occasions and ranked seventh in the country with a .627 field goal percentage. Also with Thramer's guidance, Meyer and
Mesa Byom earned All-Summit Defensive Team honors this season. Thramer also serves as SDSU's recruiting coordinator.
The Jackrabbits are coming off one of the best seasons in program history during which the team posted a 30-4 overall record, picked up three wins over ranked teams and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament over No. 7 Oklahoma State. SDSU finished the year as the 23rd-ranked team in the nation.Â
Thramer's career also includes stops at Kansas State and Omaha. Thramer and her husband, Phil, reside in Brookings with their sons, Bennett and Cal.
