CHICAGO — South Dakota State running back Julius Loughridge is one of 30 players named to the initial watch list for the 2025 Walter Payton Award, which is presented by Stats Perform. The award is presented annually to the top offensive player in the Football Championship Subdivision.
An incoming transfer, Loughridge (pronounced LOFF-ridge) previously excelled at the FCS level at Fordham, where he racked up 3,005 rushing yards over three seasons, including posting back-to-back 1,000-yard campaigns in 2023 (1,146 yards) and 2024 (1,044). The Houston, Texas, native also caught 21 passes for 155 yards during the 2024 campaign.
The Walter Payton Award watch list will be updated periodically throughout the the 2025 season, with the award presented at the Stats Perform National Awards Banquet on Jan. 3, 2026, in Nashville, Tennessee.
