SDSU MEN TO PARTICIPATE IN CANCUN CHALLENGE

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The game schedule for the 2025 Men's and Women's Cancun Challenge has been released, with top programs set to compete during Thanksgiving Week at the all-inclusive Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya in Cancun, Mexico.

South Dakota State joins the 2025 Men's Cancun Challenge which is set for Nov. 25–26. This year's six-team field includes Georgia State, New Mexico State, Samford, South Dakota State, UC Irvine and Utah Valley. All six programs will compete in a set schedule of games in Riviera Maya.

The Jackrabbit men will face Utah Valley at 5 p.m. CT on Tuesday, Nov. 25, followed by a 7:30 p.m. CT matchup versus UC Irvine on Wednesday, Nov. 26.Â

As a part of the tournament format, SDSU will host Georgia State at First Bank & Trust Arena for a contest on Friday, Nov. 21. A start time for that game in Brookings is to be determined.

The Jackrabbits have previously appeared in two editions of the Cancun Challenge. SDSU went 1-1 at the 2008 Cancun Challenge, while they went 2-0 in 2015 en route to the Jackrabbits hoisting a trophy for winning their division.Â

Both the SDSU men's and women's basketball teams are competing in the 2025 Cancun Challenge. The women's squad plays three games from Nov. 27-29 in the Mayan Division of the tournament.Â
