ST. LOUIS — South Dakota State running back Julius Loughridge was honored Monday with the first Missouri Valley Football Conference Newcomer of the Week award of the 2025 season.
In his Jackrabbit debut, Aug. 30 against Sacramento State, Loughridge racked up 159 rushing yards on 22 carries to lead the South Dakota State ground game in a 20-3 home victory. Six of the Fordham transfer's carries went for 10-plus yards, including runs of 37 in the second quarter and 32 yards in the fourth quarter.
As a team, SDSU ran for 240 yards en route to its 30th consecutive home victory and a win in Dan Jackson's first game as head coach.
The second-ranked Jackrabbits play Saturday at No. 3 Montana State. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. Central (6 p.m. Mountain) at Bobcat Stadium in Bozeman, Montana.
