ST. LOUIS — Missouri Valley Football Conference officials announced Friday a reconfigured league schedule for the upcoming 2026 season.
A recent change in conference membership brought about the changes, which will include the nine current league members all playing each other in an eight-game format. Each team will play four home games and four road contests.
For South Dakota State, the Jackrabbits will play eight consecutive league games, starting with an Oct. 3 date at Illinois State. The Redbirds advanced to the Football Championship Subdivision title game this past season.
The Jackrabbits' conference home opener is set for Oct. 10 against Murray State. Hobo Day remains scheduled for Oct. 24, when Youngstown State pays a visit to Dana J. Dykhouse Stadium. The Jackrabbits close the month of October with a Halloween matchup against South Dakota in the Interstate Series.
The re-drawing of the schedule is not without its quirks as SDSU will travel to North Dakota for the third season in a row on Oct. 17 and will host Indiana State for the second consecutive year in the Nov. 21 regular season finale.
Back-to-back road dates at Northern Iowa (Nov. 7) and Southern Illinois (Nov. 14) round out the Jackrabbits' league slate.
SDSU continues to work toward finalizing its 2026 nonconference schedule. Season tickets for Jackrabbit football are currently on sale through GoJacks.com.
