Kelsey Lunn joins the Jackrabbit coaching staff in 2011 as a student assistant coach while she finishes her degree in advertising and after two years as a Jackrabbit infielder.
A starter in all 99 games she played as a Jackrabbit, Lunn led the Jacks with a .981 fielding percentage as a senior in 2010, with just six miscues in 292 chances, mostly at first base. At the plate she hit eight doubles and a pair of homeruns, and earned Summit League co-Player of the Week honors on May 3, after helping the Jacks to a three-game sweep of Centenary, when she hit .538 with three doubles, a grand slam and eight RBI.
In her first year at SDSU in 2009, Lunn started all 51 games for the Jackrabbits throughout the infield, finishing the year tied for second on the team with 12 walks and third with 11 RBI. She also hit an impressive .400 with the bases loaded and posted a .921 fielding percentage.
A Fort Dodge, Iowa, native, Lunn transferred to South Dakota State from Iowa Central Community College, where she set the school single-season record with 62 RBI in 2007. In her two years with the Tritons, she batted .424 with 48 doubles, 15 homeruns and 123 RBI and earned second-team all-Region XI in 2007.
Lunn earned five varsity letters in softball at Fort Dodge Senior High School, and earned a unanimous first-team all-conference selection and all-state honorable mention as a senior, second team all-conference as a junior and all-conference honorable mention as a sophomore. Jackrabbits to a three-game home sweep of Centenary where she hit .538 (7-for-13) with three doubles, a grand slam and eight RBI ... Lunn hit her
first career grand slam in the opener of the twinbill, along with two hits in
the second game against the Ladies ... in the series finale, Lunn recorded a pair
of doubles and a single to complete the league series sweep
