BEFORE SDSU: Reece was a member of state championship teams and an all-state performer at both O'Gorman High School and for the Renner American Legion program … earned American Legion all-state honors three times (2019-21) and was a high school all-stater twice (2019, 2021) … set Post 307 career records for wins (26), innings pitched (235) and games started (41), while ranking second with 232 strikeouts … compiled a 2.11 career earned run average at the American Legion level and a 1.34 ERA in high school …. turned in a 7-1 record with a 1.30 ERA and 61 strikeouts in 53.2 innings pitched en route to earning all-tournament honors at the 2021 Central Plains Regional during his final Legion season … also excelled academically as a National Merit Scholar, AP Scholar and member of the National Honor Society … his father, Aaron, played baseball and his mother, Jen, played softball collegiately at Dakota State
