Katie LeMair joined the South Dakota State staff as the Associate Athletic Director for Kvistad Nutrition in August of 2025.
LeMair, a South Dakota State alumna, is an accomplished performance dietitian and returned to Brookings with more than six years of experience in Division I athletics. Her experience includes stops at Kansas State, Texas and Nebraska. LeMair specializes in day-to-day fueling strategies, injury recovery nutrition, Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport (REDs) prevention and treatment and support for athletes navigating disordered eating or eating disorder recovery.Â
While at K-State, LeMair was responsible for sports nutrition programming for more than 185 student-athletes. She spearheaded development of the department’s first Student-Athlete Wellness Group consisting of multidisciplinary collaboration regarding high-risk situations, including
LeMair is a registered dietitian and board certified specialist in sports dietetics. She holds a bachelor’s degree in dietetics from South Dakota State and a master’s in nutrition and exercise physiology from the University of Nebraska.
LeMair and her husband, Matt (SDSU ’15), are the parents of twin boys, Owen and Myles.
South Dakota State Athletics, in partnership with the SDSU Foundation, announced the creation of the Sharon L. (Johanson) Kvistad Nutrition Fund in August of 2025. The gift allowed SDSU Athletics to hire its first-ever full-time registered dietitian, a position which carries the title of Associate Athletic Director for Kvistad Nutrition.Â
