LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The South Dakota State Western Team retuned to action this weekend, falling to the New Mexico State Aggies 6 to 2 in a Varsity head-to-head competition, but scored several impressive individual performances.
The Horsemanship riders lost 3-0, but an exceptional ride was turned in by Junior Jordanne Blair to tie Codi Binkerd with a score of 70. Both Abby Knobbe and Lydia Placzek were clipped by just ½ point by their NMSU counterparts in their losses.
In reining Competition, both Jordanne Blair and Lydia Placzek scored victories to pace the Jackrabbits. They both rode their horses second and after watching the NMSU goes were able to improve upon those rides. A solid performance was also turned by Abby Knobbe, who lost by just one point, 71-70.
The Jackrabbits return to action this weekend with the Western Team traveling to the University of Nebraska for an IHSA competition in Lincoln. The event is scheduled to start at 8 a.m.
