Angela Gebhart claimed high-point honors Sunday as South Dakota State University's Western squad closed out a successful fall season at an IHSA equestrian competition hosted by North Dakota State University.
In all, the Jackrabbits claimed eight section titles over two days, led by Gebhart's sweep of the open reining and open horsemanship events. SDSU won all three sections of open horsemanship on Sunday, with
Meghan Gunn and
Kaylee Mundwiler also posting victories.
SDSU opened the competition on Saturday with wins by seniors
Kate Gunderson and
Hillary Siebels in their sections of open horsemanship.
Sophomores
Kristen Carlson and
Brittnay Entsminger followed with victories in their sections of novice horsemanship. With her win, Carlson qualified for the IHSA Regional competition Feb. 28, 2009.
Also qualifying for regionals after posting third-place finishes in Fargo were senior
Carolyn Wehde in novice horsemanship and
Julie Corcoran in beginner horsemanship.
The Jackrabbit English team closes out its fall season Dec. 6-7 at Wisconsin-River Falls.
