The season came down to one game for the Jackrabbits on whether or not they would make the four-team field at The Summit League Tournament. Win the final game of the doubleheader with North Dakota State and advance or go home.
The Jacks scored three runs in the first, three more insurance runs in the sixth, and kept the potent Bison offense in check to secure the 6-2 win and the team's first-ever appearance in the league tournament this weekend in Fargo, N.D., hosted by North Dakota State.
SDSU opens the tournament against the top-seeded Fighting Leathernecks of Western Illinois on Friday at 10 a.m. Snow in Macomb, Ill., forced the cancelation of a three-game series in March, so the Jacks and Leathernecks did not meet during the regular season.
The winner of the game advances to play the winner of the IPFW vs. NDSU game at 5:30 p.m., while the two losing teams meet on Friday at 3 p.m.
