Two day's after suffering its second loss of the season, South Dakota State bounced back with a 56-52 win at FGCU in the second game of a three game road trip that ends with a rematch against Weber State, which the Jackrabbits beat 85-68 on Nov. 16, in Brookings. The Jacks and Wildcats play the rematch in Ogden, Utah on Tuesday at 7 p.m. MT, 8 p.m. CT.
Up one with under five minutes left in the first half on Saturday at FGCU, the Jacks closed the half on a 14-6 run, with 11 of those points coming from redshirt freshman Mike Daum, to take a 31-22 lead into halftime.
Both teams struggled from the floor, with neither team shooting better than 37 percent, but the Jacks finished with just enough pep in the grind-it-out 56-52 win, to improve to 10-2 on the season, while the Eagles fell to 6-5.
THE OPPONENT
WEBER STATE WILDCATS (6-5, 2-1 Home): The Wildcats bounced back from their loss at SDSU on Nov. 16, with five consecutive wins, including all three games at the Gulf Coast Showcase in Estero, Fla.
Weber State then lost three in a row, with a neutral site loss to BYU, a double overtime loss at Utah Valley and a one point loss at Denver, but won an overtime affair in its last outing on Dec. 18, 92-82, at Portland. Â Â
THE SERIES vs. WEBER STATE
SDSU won the first and only meeting, 85-68, earlier this season on Nov. 16, at Frost Arena.
