ST. CLOUD, MINN. - The South Dakota State swimming and diving team defeated St. Cloud State, 347-253 Saturday afternoon at the Halenbeck Hall Aquatic Center.
The men's team topped the Huskies 170-130, while the women beat SCSU, 177-123.
"We had two good victories today," head coach
Doug Humphrey said. "We raced well and continued to improve. The team is still feeling tired from training but all the hard work is continuing to pay off. Today was validation that we are on the right track and will continue to get better leading up to the conference meet."
Diving Dominates
- Sophomore Alex Crow became the fifth Jackrabbit to qualify for zone diving with a personal-best 323.93 on the 3-meter. This score moved him to No. 6 in SDSU history.
- Mitchell Raihle topped his personal-best on the 1-meter with a score of 337.57 to move to No. 3 overall at SDSU.
- Parker Brown also beat his career-best with a 310.35, moving him to No. 5.
Jacks Shine in Freestyle
- SDSU won seven of 10 freestyle events. The women won the 200, 500 and 1000 free, while the men finished first in the 50, 100, 500 and 1000 free.
- Freshman Rori Conners won the 500 and 1000 free with a 5:09.51 and 10:30.35, respectively. Jared Miller also won the 500 and 1000 free with times of 4:49.96 and 10:04.54.
- Richelle Bruyckere finished first in the 200 free (1:55.66).
- Senior Daniel Jacobson touched first in the 50 and 100 free with times of 21.26 and 46.88, respectively.
