KANSAS CITY – South Dakota State softball shook off a slow start and rallied in the seventh to pull out a 6-4 win in its series-opener at UMKC Friday.

SDSU fell behind 2-0 through the opening two frames after UMKC scored a run in each before Rushing's solo shot cut the deficit in half (2-1) in the third.
Â
The Jackrabbits tied it in the fourth but saw the 'Roos answer with a run of their own in the inning. Later in the inning, Andersen took third on a one-out ground ball and dashed home when Mullen followed with a single to right.
