NEBRASKA CITY, Neb.—Oh so close. South Dakota State's
Teresa Toscano came up short from claiming the 2018 Summit League Women's Golf Championship Tuesday, tying for second after a three-player, one-hole playoff.

Toscano shot a final-round 69 to tie for the lowest round in Summit League history, but it wasn't enough as the sophomore finished with a 217 (74-74-69), behind individual medalist Sophie Newlove of Denver (71-75-71=217), who parred the playoff hole.

After starting the day tied for sixth, the Huelva, Spain, native shot a one-under 35 on the front nine with birdies on the second and third holes. She then was two under on the back nine with birdies on the 10
th, 11
th and 16
th holes.

Toscano, who placed third last season, earned all-tournament honors for the second consecutive season.

SDSU shot a final-round 292 (309-302-292=904) on the par-72, 6,261-yard ArborLinks Golf Course. North Dakota State (291-289-308) led from start to finish and fired an 888 to claim its first team title since 2013.

Natcha Srimaneerungroj ended her Jackrabbit career finishing 14th, shooting two-over par 74 (81-75-74=230).

Cassidy Laidlaw and junior
Magda Kruger finished in the top 25. Laidlaw shot a final-round one-over par 73 to tie for 18th (88-74-73=235). Kruger tied for 24th with a three-round 238 (77-85-76). Sophomore
Sydney Bormann tied for 28th (78-79-84=241).

- Toscano's final-round 69 was the sixth-lowest round in school history. Her 217 is the fifth-lowest 54-hole score.
- Toscano's 69 is also ties former teammate Megan Mingo for the lowest Summit League round at State. Her 217 is a school record for lowest 54-hole Summit League round.
- Tosano's second-place finish is tied for the second-best championship finish since the Jackrabbits began Summit League play in 2008.
