SDSU PLACES SEVENTH AT LADY BISON CLASSIC

PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. - The South Dakota State women's golf team finished in a tie for seventh place at the Lady Bison Classic hosted by Lipscomb at the Bay Point Golf Club this week. The Jacks were led by top-10 finishes from McKenzie Mages and Piper Stubbs.
SDSU tallied its best 18-hole score of the tournament over the final round, a 312 (+24), to bring its team tally to 942 (+78). The Jacks tied with Murray State and finished four shots behind Morehead State.
Mages posted an even-par 72 Tuesday, propelling her into ninth place on the final leaderboard with a 229 (+13). Mages went 1-under-par on her first hole and was steady the rest of the day. Her final round featured two birdies, 15 par holes and only one hole over par.
Stubbs finished in a four-way tie for 10th place. She posted a 230 (+14) final score and ended the tournament with 40 par holes, the most of all players.
Alex Kandolin had the next best placing for the Jacks. The senior recorded a 241 (+25) to finish in a tie for 38th place. She was followed by Shakira-Ann Kuys in a tie for 51st place (245, +29) and Tatum Depuydt in 55th place (248, +32).
Lipscomb won the team title with a 909 (+45) scorecard, four shots ahead of second-place Florida Golf Coast (913, +49). Laerke Jensen, who currently plays for Charleston Southern but played within the Summit League at South Dakota last season, won medalist honors (222, +6).
