DANBURY, Conn. — South Dakota State freshmen Anna Minich and Emma Riggs swept the ECAC Rider of the Week awards for the Western disciplines following a successful weekend of home competition for the Jackrabbits.
A native of LaPorte, Indiana, Minich was selected as Most Outstanding Performer in horsemanship in each of her first collegiate events. She scored 76.5 points in a win over UC Davis on Nov. 1, then scored 76 points the following day in a victory against Minnesota Crookston.
Riggs, a first-year rider from Alexandria, South Dakota, also went 2-0 in head-to-head competition during the weekend with respective scores of 72 and 71 in reining. She was honored as MOP in helping lead the Jackrabbits to a victory over UC Davis.
South Dakota State, 2-2 overall, returns to action Nov. 15 at Delaware State.
