BISHOP, Ga. — Fourth-ranked Georgia swept flat and claimed four points in both Western events to earn a 16-3 victory over South Dakota State in head-to-head competition Saturday at the UGA Equestrian Center.

Georgia improved to 8-4 overall. SDSU dropped to 3-7 as it closed out the regular season.

All five Bulldog riders scored 80 points or higher in tallying all five team points in flat. Catalina Peralta led the way with an 89.

SDSU earned two of its points in fences with Julia Werkhoven and Hannah Steele winning their head-to-head matchups. Werkhoven tallied a team-best 85 points on Perry to edge Peralta by a single point. Steele, a Woodstock, Georgia, native, made a successful return to her home state by posting an 82-70 victory over Jennifer Saniloff aboard D-Jan.

The Jackrabbits' other point was picked up by Paige Wellendorf in horsemanship. Wellendorf was awarded a score of 74 on Freckles, while her Georgia counterpart, Leah Anderson, tallied 72.5 points.

SDSU was shut out in the reining competition, 4-0, although Paige Butterfield managed to tie Jax Bound with a score of 71 aboard Bandito.

UP NEXT
South Dakota State is scheduled to compete March 25-27 at the ECAC Championships in Rancho Murieta, California. Pairings will be announced at a later date.
