WACO, Texas — Punter Max Pelham earned first-team honors and defensive lineman Kobe Clayborne received second-team recognition Thursday in representing South Dakota State on the 2025 FCS All-America Team selected by the American Football Coaches Association.
A senior from Ankeny, Iowa, Pelham averaged a Missouri Valley Football Conference-best 47.2 yards per punt during the 2025 season. Of his 42 punts, 18 traveled 50 or more yards and 14 of his attempts landed inside the opponent's 20-yard line as the Jackrabbits ranked among the Football Championship Subdivision leaders in net punting average throughout the campaign.
Clayborne registered 41 total tackles, including eight tackles for loss and four sacks during the recently completed 2025 season. A senior from Sioux City, Iowa, Clayborne lined up at both the defensive tackle and defensive end positions for the Jackrabbits, adding a forced fumble.
Both Pelham and Clayborne received honorable mention accolades on The Associated Press FCS All-America Team earlier in the week. Clayborne also was a third-team selection to the FCS All-America squad chosen by Stats Perform.
South Dakota State finished the 2025 season with a 9-5 overall record and qualified for the Football Championship Subdivision playoffs for the 14th consecutive season.
