INDIANAPOLIS — South Dakota State 125-pounder and 165-pounder Tanner Jordan and Drake Rhodes earned at-large selections Tuesday to the 2025 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships, becoming the eighth and ninth Jackrabbit wrestlers to qualify for next week's event.
A senior from St. Paris, Ohio, Jordan is now a three-time qualifier for the NCAA Tournament. He sports a record of 23-8 with a dual record of 13-3. He is one of four at-large selections for the NCAA Tournament at 125 pounds. He went 2-3 at the Big 12 Championships with two wins by fall on his way to an eighth-place finish.
A redshirt sophomore from Bozeman, Mont., Rhodes is in his first year of competition at South Dakota State after transferring from Iowa in September. Rhodes will be competing at the national meet for the first time in his career. He holds a record of 21-5 this year and an 8-1 dual record. He has wins over No. 7 Nicco Ruiz and No. 9 Hunter Garvin this year. He went 0-2 at the Big 12 Championships, defaulting out of the tournament with an injury.
The Jackrabbits' nine selections to the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships break the program record for the most qualifiers in a single season that was tied last year.
The three-day NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships run March 20-22 at Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pa. Pairings and seedings will be announced on NCAA.com at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
