PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Cade DeVos became a two-time All-American on Friday as he took down No. 5 Simon Ruiz to move on to the semi-finals.
DeVos met Ruiz on Mat Four in the quarterfinals with a trip to the semi-finals and All-American honors on the line. DeVos got out to an early lead, scoring a single-leg takedown in the first and following it up with multiple takedown defenses. After adding an escape in the second, DeVos was able to fight off Ruiz in the third on his way to his second All-American honor.
In other action, Cobe Siebrecht and Julian Tagg were able to score wins in their first consolation bracket matches of the session. Tagg went up against No. 32 Nash Singleton of Oregon State and immediately got to work, scoring two takedowns in the first and another in the third on his way to a 10-3 decision.
Cobe Siebrecht went up against No. 4 Rafa Hipolito of Virginia Tech, where the pair found themselves scoreless after the first period. Hipolito appeared to catch Siebrecht on a scramble before Siebrecht turned the tide, putting Hipolito on his back and scoring the pin.
Siebrecht and Tagg would both drop their second consolation matches of the session, Siebrecht in a 14-7 decision loss and Tagg in a 17-2 tech fall loss. Siebrecht closes his college career as a two-time NCAA qualifier and a Big 12 runner-up at 157 pounds.
Tanner Jordan finished his career as a Jackrabbit after dropping a tightly contested match to No. 9 Caleb Smith in sudden victory. Jordan finishes his career as a three-time NCAA Qualifier and an All-American in 2024.
Zach Glazier's college career came to a close as well, dropping his contest with Trey Munoz in sudden victory. Glazier finishes his career as a two-time NCAA Qualifier, with a third-place Big 12 Championships finish.
In other action, Bennett Berge, Derrick Cardinal and Luke Rasmussen all dropped their first consolation matches, finishing their tournament runs. Berge and Cardinal qualified for their second NCAA Tournament, while Rasmussen qualified for his first.
