MANHEIM, Pa. — Nine South Dakota State wrestling student-athletes have been honored by the National Wrestling Coaches Association as recipients of an NCAA Division I Men's Scholar All-America Award.
SDSU's honorees included:
Bennett Berge, R-So., Mantorville, Minn.
Regan Bollweg, Sr., Harrold, S.D.
Derrick Cardinal, Jr., Forest Lake, Minn.
Cade DeVos, Sr., Altoona, Iowa
Cody Donnelly, Sr., Phillip, S.D.
Brock Fettig, R-So., Bismarck, N.D.
Zach Glazier, Gr., Albert Lea, Minn.
Luke Rasmussen, R-So., Brookings, S.D.
Cobe Siebrecht, Sr., Lisbon, Iowa
These exceptional student-athletes have excelled both on the mat and in the classroom, meeting one of the following criteria:
All nominees are determined by the academic records returned and the results in TrackWrestling.
Top 8 and 3.00 GPA
National Qualifier and 3.2 GPA
Conference qualifier and 3.5 GPA
15 matches with a 60% win record and a 3.5 GPA
SDSU's nine honorees were just behind UNI's 12 honorees and Nebraska's 10 honorees, tied with the University of Pennsylvania with nine.
DeVos was honored for the fifth time in his collegiate career, while Cardinal was honored for the third time and Berge his second. On top of being a Scholar All-American, DeVos wrestled his way to the podium at the NCAA Championships, earning his second All-American honors, placing sixth at 174 pounds. Six of the Scholar All-American honorees were NCAA Qualifiers this season.
