BROOKINGS, S.D. -- South Dakota State and Nebraska both participated in their opening exhibition match ahead of the 2025 season Tuesday, Aug. 5, at Fishback Soccer Park. The two sides played a competitive 90 minutes as the Jackrabbits and Huskers finished regulation scoreless.Â
Both teams had scoring chances in each half of action, but neither found the back of the net. Nebraska finished the contest with an 11-9 edge in shots.Â
All three of SDSU's goalkeepers in
Leah Bacon,
Mallorie Benhart and
Stephanie Leckwold saw time on the pitch. Each of the keepers made at least one save while keeping things knotted at 0-0.Â
The meeting was played in front of 431 spectators at SDSU's home field Tuesday evening. The attendance number is unofficially among the top 15 home crowds in program history.Â
