No. 11 South Dakota State will open the 2026 NCAA Tournament against No. 6 Washington Friday afternoon in Fort Worth, Texas. This is the first all-time meeting between these teams.

SDSU is 27-6 overall this season and has won 10 straight games dating back to February 1.

Washington is 21-10 on the year and went 10-8 in the Big Ten, finishing eighth in the regular season. The Huskies are 4-6 over their last 10 contests. UW has faced 15 of the 68 NCAA Tournament teams already this season, with victories over nine of those opponents.

KEY STORYLINES

No. 11 South Dakota State opens its 14th NCAA Tournament against No. 6 Washington. This is the first all-time meeting between these teams.
SDSU has won two NCAA Tournament games as a double-digit seed, including last season's opening round win over No. 7 Oklahoma State.
SDSU has reached 20 wins for the 15th consecutive season. SDSU is one of only a handful of programs with an active streak that long (Baylor, UConn, Louisville, South Carolina).
SDSU has won 13 Summit League Tournament titles, including each of the last four. Jackrabbit seniors Ellie Colbeck, Maddie Mathiowetz and Brooklyn Meyer are making their fourth NCAA Tournament appearance together in four years and have won two career Tournament games.
The Jacks are on a 10-game win streak dating back to the start of February. SDSU is one of nine teams with an active streak that long. In that stretch, SDSU is outscoring its opponents by an average of 24.0 PPG, is .515 from the floor and holding opponents to .355.
Brooklyn Meyer leads the Jacks in scoring, rebounds, assists, blocks and field goal percentage. She is one of two players in the country scoring at least 20 PPG and shooting better than 60% (Audi Crooks, Iowa State).
Maddie Mathiowetz averages 13.6 PPG on the year and is the Jacks' steals leader with 1.3 per game. She has scored at least 15 points in 11 of the last 16 games and at least 20 in four of the last seven.
Emilee Fox is the No. 1 3-point shooter in the nation at .477 on the year. She scores 8.2 points per game and has knocked down at least three 3-pointers in nine of 26 games played this year.
As a starter (last 10 games), freshman Hadley Thul contributes 9.2 points, 4.4 rebounds and 2.6 assists while shooting 52%. She is the Jackrabbits' third leading scorer in that stretch.
Paced by Brooklyn Meyer's .646 individual field goal percentage, which ranks fifth in the country, SDSU is seventh in the nation as a team at .484.
