SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – South Dakota State sophomores
Joe Sayler and
Damon Wilkinson were recognized on Tuesday as the two were tabbed as honorable mentions to the 2026 All-Summit League Men's Basketball Team, the conference office announced.
Sayler and Wilkinson were the Jackrabbits' leading scorers during the 16-game Summit League schedule. The accolades from The Summit League are the first for the duo in their respective college careers.
Sayler averaged 17.9 points, 3.9 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game in conference play. He competed for 35.4 minutes per game while shooting 46.8% and was 47.1% from 3-point range.
The White River, S.D., native ranked sixth among conference individuals in scoring, second in 3-point percentage and played the second highest minutes per game. Sayler recorded 20-point performances on eight occasions in league action including a career-high 27 point performance at North Dakota on Jan. 3.
Wilkinson averaged 15.5 points, 6.9 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.0 blocks per contest during The Summit League slate. He improved his minutes mark during the year by competing for 27 minutes per game, while he had a 58.8% clip shooting.
The De Smet, S.D., native ranked 10th individually in the league in scoring, third in rebounds, eighth in blocked shots, and among the top 10 in field goal percentage. Wilkinson scored in double digits in all but one game during conference play. He matched his career high of 24 points twice and grabbed a career-high 19 rebounds in the league opener versus Omaha on New Year's Day.
South Dakota State makes its debut in the 2026 Summit League Basketball Championship in the quarterfinals on Thursday in Sioux Falls. The Jackrabbits will take on No. 2-seed St. Thomas at approximately 8:30 p.m. in the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center.
