MESA, Ariz. - The South Dakota State women's golf team held on to the top spot on the leaderboard after the second round of the Summit League Championship, played Monday at Longbow Golf Club. The Jackrabbits have an 11-shot lead with one round remaining.
SDSU senior
McKenzie Mages moved into first place individually with a 68 (-3) and eight birdies for round two, both field bests. She sits at 141 (-1) overall with a three-stroke lead at the top. Teammate
Hannah Boraas carded a 70 (-1) to move into sole possession of second place, giving the Jackrabbits the top two individual spots heading into the final round.
The Jacks posted a 286 (+2) in round two to move to 584 (+16) through 36 holes, and Oral Roberts matched that round with a 286 (+2) of their own to land in second at 595 (+27). Denver slipped one position into third at 600 (+32) after a 298 (+14) on the day.
Reese Jansa,
Riko Danjo and
Molly O'Hara round out the Jacks' lineup, all in the top 20. Jansa went +6 on Monday, and paired with her +3 from Sunday's lap, has the senior in a tie for 12th place. Danjo is +10 overall and tied for 16th place. O'Hara carded a 73 (+2) for the second round, moving her up 15 spots on the leaderboard into a tie for 20th place.
Following Mages and Boraas on the individual leaderboard is Oral Roberts' Jayla Kucy. She sits in third with a 146 (+4). The Golden Eagles have three golfers inside the top 10.
