COLUMBIA, Mo. - South Dakota State sophomore
Jake Olson fired a 65 (-5) for his opening round at the Tiger Invitational Monday, matching the second lowest single round by a Jackrabbit in program history.
Olson notched eight birdies on his way to the career best round. The Watertown native was in first place after the opening lap, and is tied for 13th through two complete rounds at -1 overall.
Play was suspended due to darkness Monday evening with a few holes remaining in round two. The Jackrabbits are tied for ninth place as a team with a +10 score, five shots behind South Dakota in eighth place.
After Olson,
Tyler Seeling is tied for 26th place. He finished with a 69 (-1) on his first lap and is 2-over for round two with one hole left to play. The senior was fairly steady for round one with three birdies, two bogeys and 13 par holes.
Ty Adkins (+5) is tied for 62nd place and
Drew Teeter (+6) is tied for 69th place.
Bryson Mercier is just one more shot back at +7 and is in 75th.
Host Missouri lead the field with a -10 team score, followed by Nebraska with a -7 tally.
NOTES
Olson's 65 is second in program history to teammate
Tyler Seeling's 60, which Seeling set in the season opener this past fall. Seeling's 60 is an NCAA record.
UP NEXT
The Tiger Invitational will wrap up Tuesday with the remainder of round two and all of round three, beginning at 8 a.m.
