ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- The South Dakota State University women's swimming and diving team picked up its first dual victory of the season Tuesday, defeating Morningside (Iowa), 48-27, during the team's annual Winter Training Trip.
Leading the way for the Jackrabbits were event winners
Kayleigh Boucher,
Sara Olenich and
Rachel Musser. Boucher, a sophomore from Manchester, Conn., won the 200-yard freestyle in 2 minutes, 10.21 seconds.
Olenich claimed the 50 freestyle in 27.24 seconds, while Musser earned the 200 individual medley title with a time of 2:20.82.
Several other Jackrabbits posted top times in their events, but were entered as exhibition competitors.
The Jackrabbits also swept the two mixed relay events.
Alexandra Hoffman and
Mallory Onisk teamed with Blake Gipson and Hadleigh Tyler for a winning time of 1:52.92 in the 200 medley relay.
Hannah Ferree and
Christina Gerometta closed out the meet by joining forces with Jason Garder and Josh Mueller for a victory in the 200 freestyle relay, 1:48.68.
SDSU, 1-6 in duals, resumes competition Jan. 18-19 at a quadrangular hosted by St. Louis University (Mo.).
