ROCHESTER, Mich. ? South Dakota State placed fifth at the Summit League Women's Golf Championship, which concluded Tuesday at the par-72, 5,899-yard Katke-Cousins Golf Course.

The tournament was shortened to 36 holes after play was rained out Monday.

The Jackrabbits posted rounds of 341 and 330 to finish with a 671 total, 14 shots out of second place.

Oral Roberts continued its dominance of the event, winning for the 12th consecutive year with a 619 (305-314) total.

UMKC was second at 657 (331-326). Oakland was another four shots back in third at 661 (328-333) and Western Illinois (336-330) edged SDSU for fourth place at 666.

SDSU, last season's runner-up, was led by Whitney Schrader. The sophomore from Marshalltown, Iowa, tied for 20th with a 166 (84-82) total.

Freshman Brittany Hanten (Goodwin) and sophomore Sydney Sturdevant (Sioux Falls) were among four golfers tied for 23rd at 168. Hanten carded rounds of 88 and 80, while Sturdevant shot 82-86.

Senior Amanda Rosol (Fairmont, Minn.), a first-team all-conference selection a year ago after placing fifth, tied for 28th at 172 (90-82).

Freshman Rebecca Swords rounded out the Jacks' scoring, tying for 33rd at 174 (87-87).

The Golden Eagles placed four golfers in the top-7 en route to the team crown. Defending champ and reigning conference player of the year Christy Carter won the event with a 4-over-par 148 (72-76) total.

South Dakota State is set to take on North Dakota State in the annual Dakota Cup on May 2-3 in Morton, Minn. The Jacks hold a 2-1 lead over the Bison in the event.
