AMES, Iowa - Diving records fell on the men's and women's side as the South Dakota State men's swimming and diving team defeated Summit League foe Western Illinois 134-75, while the women split their double dual defeating the Leathernecks 154-50 and losing to host Iowa State 152-83.
Erin Eagen broke her own school record of 254.70 points in 3-meter diving set last season at the conference championships by the slimmest of margins as she totaled 254.80 points.
Brad Schoreit shattered his 3-meter SDSU record set last year at Minnesota by nearly 25 points as he posted a score of 288.35 points. The sophomore also threatened his 1-meter diving record coming up 1.5 points short as he had a winning total of 253.15 points.
The men went on to win nine events, including a pair from Jeremy Yacevich and freshmen Phil Albu and Chris Schreier.
Yacevich won the 50 freestyle in 22.44 seconds and followed that up with a 100 butterfly victory in 54.16 seconds for his 10th career win.
Both Albu and Schreier were a part of the winning 400 medley relay (3:30.83) with Albu also taking home the 100 backstroke title in 53.60 seconds, while Schreier placed first with a 500 freestyle time of 4:47.40
On the women's side, freshman Andrea Budahl had the second best 1000 freestyle time in SDSU history clocking in at 10:31.84.
Both the men (2-0) and women (1-2) return to the pool on Friday, Nov. 5th as they host Wisconsin-Green Bay at the HPER Center Pool starting at 6 p.m.
