ROCHESTER, Mich. -- The South Dakota State University women's swimming and diving team finished second at the Summit League Championships for the third straight year in a row.
The Jackrabbits finished second with 662 points. Oakland won the title with 1,041 points.
Sophomore Andrea Budahl crushed the school-record in the 1,650-yard freestyle with a third place time of 16:58.18. Budahl's 1,000-yard mark time of 10:13.70 broke her own school-record of 10:22.64. Samantha Fossum finished fourth in a time of 17:09.34 and Emma Gaulke-Janowski finished fifth in a time of 17:15.87.
Senior Morgan McLain placed second in the 200-yard backstroke with a school-record time of 2:01.54. Jessica Ferley finished fourth in a time of 2:03.94.
The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Ferley, McLain, Nicole Grimit and Kaylin Caron placed second with a school-record time of 3:28.82. Caron's 100-yard split of 51.66 is a school record.
Caron placed third in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 52.26 seconds. Grimit finished fifth in a time of 52.86 seconds.
Senior Kaitlyn Hemmingson finished fifth in the 200-yard breaststroke with at time of 2:26.29. Alanah Bird finished sixth with a time of 2:26.35.
McLain was named the "Women's Newcomer of the Championship".
Budahl, Caron, Ferley, Fossum, Grimit, Hemmingson, McLain, Ashley Valdez and Emma Wright were named to the women's all-league team.
