South Dakota State hunt seat rider Jordan Goodall not only won both of her points in her final home meet of the season, but the senior from Centennial, Colo., also earned both MOPs, scoring a 79 on the flat and an 84 over fences, but it unfortunately came in a 10-6 loss to No. 7 Fresno State.
SDSU fall to 5-6 on the season while the visiting Bulldogs improve to 6-4. Individually, Goodall improves to an even 5-5 on the flat and to 4-6 over fences.
“Very disappointing loss today, I was not expecting the huge loss in the western events, especially horsemanship, we had some major penalties in reining that cost us,” head coach Megan Rossiter said. “However, that was one of the strongest meets we have had for hunt seat riders, but unfortunately we didn't get it done in the western events.”
The Jackrabbits split the points on the flat, with junior Marielle Golden earning the other point with a score of 84. Along with Goodall, Golden also won her point over fences, scoring a 72, as SDSU took three of the four points over fences. Golden improves to 8-1 on the flat and to an even 5-5 over fences.
Freshman Taylor Duerr scored the other point over fences with an 84, which boosts her record to 4-3.
The Jackrabbits lone western point on the day came from freshman Miranda Sullivan, who improved to 4-2 in reining this season with a score of 68.
The Jacks return to action next weekend, with a pair of meets on the slate in Texas, starting with a Saturday meet in Fort Worth at TCU, followed by a Sunday contest in Dallas at SMU.
