Coming off their eighth regular-season title, the South Dakota State women's golf team travels to Springfield, Mo., for the MSU/Payne Stewart Memorial at Twin Oaks Country Club Sunday and Monday.
The 15-team field, includes Summit League members Omaha, Oral Roberts, South Dakota and Western Illinois, begins play Sunday with the first of three rounds at the 6,017-yard, par-71 Twin Oaks Country Club. The event consists of 36 holes Sunday followed by 18 Monday. An 8:30 a.m. shotgun start is slated for both days.
The Jackrabbits are coming off their first win of the season, capturing the UNO Invitational last weekend. Senior Megan Mingo finished second and three other Jacks placed in the top seven.
In the opening weekend, Mingo and freshman Teresa Toscano both posted a 70 in the third and second rounds, respectively. The score ranks tied for third for lowest 18-hole score in school history. Mingo, Toscano and senior Hallie Getz also posted top-10 scores for 36 holes.
As a team, SDSU recorded the third-lowest team 18-hole (288), 36-hole (582) and 54-hole (891) scores in school annuals.
Last year at the MSU/Payne Stewart, the Jackrabbits placed third behind Missouri State and Houston Baptist, firing a 924. Mingo finished eighth, shooting a 228.
