The South Dakota State women's golf team returns to the links Monday and Tuesday when it plays in the MSU Payne Stewart Memorial hosted by Missouri State in Springfield, Mo.
The defending champions begin play Monday at the par-71, 6,017-yard Twin Oaks Country Club with the first of three rounds. The event consists of 36 holes Monday followed by 18 holes Tuesday. An 8:30 a.m. shotgun start is slated for both days.
State is one of 15 teams in the field, including Summit League members Omaha and South Dakota.
The Jackrabbits competed as individuals last weekend at the UNO Invitational. Sophomore
Sydney Bormann recorded her first top-five finish, placing fifth in the 55-player field.
Last year, South Dakota State won the 15-team MSU Payne Stewart Memorial by three strokes over UTEP. Toscano tied for 13
th, shooting a 227 (74-82-71). State's final-round 287 ranked as the second-best 18-hole score in school history.
The MSU/Payne Stewart Memorial is named in honor of the Springfield native and PGA Tour standout who perished in a plane crash in 1999.
