The No. 8 ranked South Dakota State equestrian team is traveling to Texas for three meets Feb. 22-24.

The Jacks will compete at No. 7 TCU on Thursday, at No. 5 SMU on Friday and against No. 10 UT-Martin Saturday.

The Jacks and the Horned Frogs are meeting for the eighth time in program history. TCU currently leads the series 4-3. SDSU and SMU meet up for the sixth time in history, with the Mustangs leading, 4-1. State and UT-Martin will face each other for the 13th time, with the Skyhawks leading, 8-4.

Scouting SDSU
No. 8 SDSU is coming off a 2-0 weekend when is defeated NDSU, 14-2 in an exhibition and Delaware State, 9-7.

In the meet against DSU, the Jacks won Equitation on the Flat, 3-1.

Claire Garduno all won their points.

In Equitation over Fences, State and the Hornets split the discipline, 2-2.

Jessica Martinez captured wins with scores of 86 and 80, respectively.

On the Western side,
Jordan Gates garnered MOP honors in Horsemanship with a 75.5-74 victory.
Nichole Zazula scored a career-high 74.5, while
Mariah Wright claimed another point for SDSU.

Mariah Wright won the only point for the Jacks in Reining when she upended Angelina Watts, 67.5-67.

Scouting TCU/UT-Martin
No. 7 TCU comes into the weekend after a 13-6 win over No. 10 UT-Martin.

The Horned Frogs garnered all four MOP accolades.

TCU fell in Fences 3-2 with Elizabeth McKim and Alex Beneson capturing the only points.

In Horsemanship, the Frogs swept the Skyhawks, 5-0. Laska Anderson earned her third Mop honor, while Jamie Cook and Cydney Benes had season-high scores. Josie Mootz and Elizabeth Bohn won their points as well.

Josie Ferrante garnered MOP honors in Reining with a 74.5-66.5 victory over Megan Aiosa. Claire Dittrich also won with a 68.

On the Flat, TCU won the discipline 4-1. Emelie Burgess earned her second MOP of the season with a 77-67 win. Alex Beneson, Mady Fithian and Jayme Omand captured points for the Frogs to round out the victory.

Scouting SMU
No. 5 SMU is coming off an 8-6 loss to Oklahoma State.

The Mustangs started strong with a 2-1 victory in Horsemanship. Haylee Schoonover and Ashley Mauney captured wins for SMU.

In Equitation on the Flat, SMU and OSU tied, 2-2. Vivian Yowan led off with a 74-71 victory over Hannah Janson. Nora Gray followed with a 77 and an MOP.

The Cowgirls won Fences, 2-1. Yowam claimed the lone point for the Mustangs with a 78-75 win over Abagail Brayman.

Keagan Snively topped Stephanie Helsen, 67.5-63.5 for the lone point in Reining.
