The South Dakota State track and field team wrapped up the last bit of competition for this weekend.
DES MOINES, Iowa - At the Drake Relays, the Jackrabbit relay teams scored some top 10 all-time marks and school records on the final day at the Blue Oval.
The women's distance medley (1. So. Kendra Dykstra, 2. Jr. Savannah Dolezal, 3. Jr. Krista Steele, 4. Jr. Rachel King) notched a new school record. It beat the previous-best mark by 14.80 seconds.
The men's 4x100m relay (1. R-Fr. Coby Hilton, 2. So. Landon Larson, 3. Fr. Daniel Clarke, 4. So. Sam Zenner) competed in the finals of the relay in Des Moines, Iowa, scoring the school's second-fastest mark in program history.
They improved their time by 0.63 seconds and were just 0.03 seconds short of the school record.
The women's sprint medley team (1. So. Delaney Carlson, 2. So. Miatta Flemister-Smith, 3. Sr. Vanessa Lane, 4. Sr. Jennie Scislow) ends up third on the school's top 10 list, just 0.01 seconds from tying for second place, and 2.58 seconds from the school record.
The women's 4x200m relay team (1. So. Delaney Carlson, 2. So. Miatta Flemister-Smith, 3. Sr. Vanessa Lane, 4. Jr. Savannah Dolezal) cracked the top 10, now sitting fourth on the all-time list. The mark was just 1.93 seconds from the school record and it was the first 4x200m mark of the season for the women's team.
On the men's side, the 4x200m relay team (1. Sr. Jalen Williams, 2. Jr. Skyler Monaghan, 3. Fr. Cameron Kuil, 4. Jr. Sam Johnson) recorded the school's seventh-best mark, just 1.47 seconds from the school record. It was the first 4x200m mark of the season for the men's team.
Individually, senior Colton Bender and freshman Trent Francom recorded personal-best marks and the school record of their respective events.
Francom broke the school record wide open in the pole vault with the school's first mark over 17 feet ever. He increased his outdoor PR by 1-00.25 feet, overall PR by 8 inches, and the school record by 5.50 inches.
His mark is third in the Summit League, tied for 19th in the NCAA West, and tied for 34th nationally as of this afternoon.
He added his 10th top-three finish in 15 career events.
Bender reset his PR and school record, increasing it by 2-06.00 feet.
It remains second on The Summit League performance while it ranks 19th in the NCAA West performance list, 48th nationally.
In Moorhead, Minn., some Jackrabbit competed in the throwing events. Unattached thrower, Samuel Coil notched his personal-best mark in the shot put, increasing it by 2.75 inches.
