MARTIN, Tenn. - The South Dakota State equestrian team fell to No. 10 Delaware State Friday to wrap up a four-meet road stretch.
The Jacks move to 0-4 on the year and DSU improves to 3-2.
Senior
Jessica Martinez continued her hot start to the season, improving to 4-0 in Fences this year in her ride, earning the only point of the event for the Jacks. Freshman
Samantha Hunsecker re-set her career-best with a ride of 82.
Jordan Gates earned MOP and won a point for the Jacks in Horsemanship with her ride of 74.5.
Kodi O'Boyle scored a 73 while
Callyn Fox (69),
Rylee Streit (69) and
Emily Keiser (67.5) also rode in the event for SDSU.
On the Flat, the Jacks scored a couple more points with a career-best ride from
Jessica Boesch (76) and
Hayley Kastrup's ride of 79. Also riding in the event was
Rachel Head scoring a 72,
Jessica Martinez with a 65 and
Claire Garduno with a 56.
The Jacks won the final event in Reining 3-2 behind an MOP ride from
Natalie Gydesen (70), as well as point-scoring rides from Streit (62) and
Morgan Allen (67).

- Senior Jessica Martinez is now tied for second all-time in career Fences wins at SDSU with 18, only 3 wins away from the record of 21 held by Santana Wright (2010-14).
- Martinez also sits seventh at SDSU in career meets competed in Fences with 36, seven away from the top spot of 42, held by both Wright and Jordan Goodall (2011-15).
- With her 15th career win in Horsemanship today, Jordan Gates moves into a tie for second place all-time with Kelsey Champagne (2009-13), five away from the school record of 20 held by Kelsey Swainston (2013-17).
- Gates earned her second MOP in Horsemanship this season, one away from tying the school record for most in a season.
- The MOP also gives Gates three career MOPs in the event, tying her for third all-time at SDSU, four away from the record of seven held by Champagne.

The team now looks ahead to their final meet of the fall season when the Jacks host UM Crookston in a scrimmage meet slated for Nov. 2 at 9 a.m.
